Problem with my Vapor XX skates

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I am having some problems with my Vapor XXs as of late. Ive been skating on them for about a year, year 1/2 with no problems until now.

My boots are Creasing really bad. I had just bought a new pair of XXs and after just 3 skates they are already creasing along the side. I am getting way too much forward flex.

Now i think it may be due to the fact that i used to way 190. I have been working out for a while now, and way around 205 now. This is my second pair that has creased on me.

What other boot would you reccomend. I am looking at the 8090s - Are these a much more durable boot.

- i use a 7.5D XX

Any help would be appreciated

Have your new XX been heat-baked? Sounds like either they got overheated or they just don't fit your foot at all (bad fitting skates crease more than fitting ones).

Your increase in weight by 15 lbs shouldn't be a major factor.

Nope baked them for only 2 minutes. My foot size hasnt changed at all and my first couple of pairs were fine.

You think they could be too big? i mean my toes barely touch and ive never tried a size 7D

If a D width Vapor is actually right for you, don't even bother looking at the 8090. An EE vapor is tighter than an 8090 D for me.

he could always go to a 6.5 though in a d width or get custom 8090s since there made in canada and only cost 619 or 629

The D 8090 is likely too wide so custom would be the best option in those skates. Simple solution is to find a pair that fits properly right out of the box.

get a supreme with a power eyestay. Get em quick before this truly greatest of all skate inventions ever is gone for good. I hear that the power eyestay is no more after this year. The reason that your vapors are flexing is because bauer tried to pull a fast one on the entire hockey populous by claiming that the red flex notch served a purpose. Allow me to be the firts to tell you, it does nothing!!!! Ive said it before and Ill say it again the XX is the "worst popular skate ever" (in my best comic book guy voice from the simpsons). Supreme 8000. You will gain a little weight but I garauntee no creasing for atleast 2 years if not many more, even at 200+lbs
