I'm pretty sure it's in the Agriplex in Cloverdale as they are expecting about 20,000 people. I know the guy running it, he also runs the Ultimate Hockey League. He was trying to get us to do a booth there. Not sure if I'll go, Warrior is on board, a couple other big names but its just gonna be your standard expo, same as the wedding one and baby one they do downtown. I don't think they've promoted it as much as they should have/said they would, but if you go let me know how it is.

If you are talking about the one in Toronto that's happening in April, it's called 'The Hockey Expo'

I plan on attending and hoping to pick up some new gear for the following season

Yah Toronto is doing a similar one I think. I know they called asking us to attend, I just have no idea what they are calling it

it sucked. i mean, i know its just starting up, but it was literally in a barn. i felt good supporting it because hopefully it'll grow and attract more partners, so unless you're going for that reason, it's a long drive for nothing special.... unless you're interested in buying picked over pro stock stuff from the canuck's sale.

$75 for used gloves (edler, johnson, samuelsson vapor 40) and sticks, $100 for brand new (vaananen u+)

i think hockey shop employees were working the brand booths (warrior, bauer, easton), and i think they were 'b' grade staff, because the guys i talked to seemed to know nothing about the gear.

no f'in way.

i'm being generous when i say maybe 5000 over the weekend (unless it got crazy busy on sunday). there were empty booths, all volunteer staffers were using the skills zone (except the two women working the front desk), there were more THS employees roaming the booths than guests, and the guy from the super 8 motel booth was outside on his cell phone the entire time i was there.

i hope it grows into something good. with the rates the organizer was charging for entry, exhibitor space, and special guest roster, he probably made a small profit... my hope for next year is that he can get the manufacturers a little more involved* and possibly upgrade the venue.

the blade tape guy put the pressure on when i walked past his booth. hardcore sales, my wife ended up buying two because she felt bad for him.

*folding table with gloves and a stick rack for warrior, easton & bauer.

I figured it would be that. I think they over promised on the advertising, and didn't quite deliver. I'm sure if they choose to do it next year it will be bigger and better.

The cost to get a booth wasn't bad, IMO quite reasonable. Just feel that it was something that needs to be planned now, and solidified by May. He was still asking us to get in a week before it happened. Hopefully he'll be able to get more contacts and more support from the manufactures.

As is with all of these things, they just need time to grow.

10 x 10 exhibitor spaces are way too small to be taken seriously. if you do it next time, go 10 x 20 and throw down a real presence. bring some aids. there were a few training/hockey schools there and all they were doing was handing out pamphlets.

when i do trade shows, i try for 20x20. its damn expensive, but worth it. nothing better than space to have people hang out in your booth.

It would be nice to have an event like this in Windsor, ON. Border city, with a very large new expo centre (Old GM plant).
