Inline Warehouse Baking Skates at home

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think?

The basic summary is:

175 Degrees, preheat. Turn off oven.

Insert skate on cookie sheet.

They say 6 minutes but I think my skates say 3 minutes max.

What do you guys think?

Rob

If you do one skate at a time, don't leave them in over 7-8 minutes. It can do damage to the outsole if you're not careful, even at 185-195f, just to save you some pain that I experienced myself <_<

Yeah I was going to do them 1 at a time for 3 minutes each.

Just seems like an oven is an oven. I don't really feel like a 'mission' oven or Nike oven.

With those U-Foam machines where you put your skate in the oven and then you put your foot in and the machine compresses the boot around your foot, it makes a bit more sense why you need a 'professional' oven.

However, I haven't done this yet so if someone can give me a good reason not to please do tell!

Just do it at home. The in store skate baking is a waste of time and money IMO. Just be careful.

I just baked my X60's for 10 minutes - no problems. I had previously tried the recommended 3 minutes the first time, but that was not long enough as the boot got barely warm.

I just did mine for 4 minutes and they were perfectly fine.

I had my skates baked at a shop and stuck my feet w/ skates into a F.I.T. System and I've gotta say the result is the most comfortable skates I've ever owned. Don't know if it was the skates (CCM U+ 09), the oven, or the FIT System but the results are awesome.

I was always too nervous to try baking at home until I stumbled upon this video. I baked my skates on Saturday, had a game on Sunday and my AGX's feel so comfortable now.

Thanks for posting this.
