Taping your stick

Recommended Posts

What surface you're playing on makes a giant difference. I don't know anyone who plays indoors with a puck who doesn't tape their stick, I've never seen anyone play on asphalt with tape.

Hmm ok thanks maybe i should attempt to tape mine again

My first attempt didnt turn out to well

Practice, you'll figure out how you like to tape your stick and then after a few goes you'll get the technique just right :)

Definitely tape your stick. If you're playing indoor, it's not as much about wear and tear on your stick as it is about stick handling and puck control. These things increase with a solid tape job and maybe some candle wax.

I tape mine - cuts down wear on wood blades and helps my shot and passing - too 'tappy' otherwise

Most guys in my league tape theirs too, but in a range of styles i.e. some full tape, some use 2 stripsetc

I've been bouncing around between the full tape and the strips for a few months now when I play roller, can't decide which I like better. I like the feeling of the tape for passing, and receiving passes even though the inline puck is a bit lighter.

I tape no matter what, but it changes depending on the stick.

With a dolomite the blade wears down a lot slower then say a one95, so on a dolomite I take like normal then take a razor and cut the bottom off so it slides freely.

in indoors with my one85 i just put a horizontal strip on the blade and that's it. the blade doesn't ware down on sport court, but with a composite blade you need something to help you stick handle or the puck will just roll right off the blade
