Smyth kronik!

Recommended Posts

I went to my LHS to bring a warrior kronik grip back for warranty. Its a weight 87 flex ... they didnt have any left! i was pretty choked.. because it is last years model, i could only get what they had in stock... the only thing that even came close to what i like was a smyth curve. Not to mention it was clear :(. I think I wil get used to the clear coating eventually... at first i really didn't think i could use the ice cream scoop curve but the more i look at it , the sexier i find it!!! i cat wait to try it out on saturday!

That's actually happened to me before, and was a Warrior stick also. The give the stick directly from the store when the store buys out the remaining models of a stick, which are usually a year or two old. In general they have a large stock of the sticks and allow you to just pick out the same model stick they have in stock.

As for the Smyth curve, it's what I used and it definately grows on you. It's a great curve.

im afraid that it will grow on me cuz it will be extinct very soon.... i hope warrior comes out with something similar when they realize it is quite a popular curve.

in vancouver canada, i NEVER had issues with warranty sticks with any LHS here. The only company i had to send out my stick direct was Easton. Ive returned warrior, ccm/rbk with no issues as well. If i remember correctly, Cyclone Taylor sports had rbk/ccm reps come in every once in a while who would pick up the broken sticks. Dunno how it works now though.

also, i fine grit sanded the clear coat to get a silky smooth finish.. total opposite of the grip i had with my other stick but i remember a buddy of mine had a pro stock Rchard Park dolomite and it was light sanded to creat a matte smooth finish, and i was in love with it...

I am pretty sure that warrior has a better idea about how well the Smyth curve sold than you do. It may or may not actually be a good decision to can it, but I think it's fair to assume that there's a reason that both the Smyth (Warrior) and Shanahan (Easton) curves have died.

There certainly IS demand for these patterns, but it's clearly lower than that of moderate heel and mid curves which dominate the market.

the shanahan blade is compared to the smyth but that was a pure toe with NO mid at all. the smyth is more like the yzerman. yes both are extinct... the yzerman i didnt like as much as the toe was more squared and i think the lie was like 6 or so.. the smyth is unique

i lOVEEEE the SMYTH curve!!! ahhhhhh. toe curves FTW!... anyways. i light sanded the shaft so the clear is gone and it feels like wood.... then i took some tape on a wooden stick and rubbed just the edges with tackiness.. BEST EVER!! that is all.

i hope warrior comes out with something similar when they realize it is quite a popular curve.

just because a pattern is popular in your area does not mean it's popular in all markets

many people here lament about not being able to find Drurys whereas, in my area, they're pretty common

if Warrior decides to drop the Smyth pattern, it's because it does not have as broad appeal as another they feel would sell better (more$$)

there's a reason most manufacturers have variations of the same 5 curves... they sell... everywhere

edit: spelling
