Mission Soldier SE

Recommended Posts

Hey, so im a college roller hockey player and I'm in need of some new skates. I about 5'8, 140 and so im looking for a good, durable, and lightweight skate. So far, the top of my list is the Mission Soldier SEs. I havent seen any reviews of this skate so anyone know about them or have them and like to comment on them? Or, is there a more upscale Mission skate or another brand skate I should look at instead?

Well the thing is I wanted to order it online for its cheaper. I was planning on going to a place to try the Mission Soldier SEs on, but while there are there any other skates I should look at?

check the commander blacks. they are higher level skates then the soldiers and apparently very comfortable. they are also on sale for $250 at hockeymonkey.

they're also a slightly different fit than this years and a pain to deal with returning since they're on closeout/clearance on HM

My advice would be to try on ANY pair of Mission skates from this years product line. Check out the frame on the right skate on any pair you're putting on. There seems to be some mounting issues. I would NOT recommend buying without trying them on. Not sure if it's just a few pairs or the entire model run, but all the ones in the shops I work at have an off center mounted frame on the right boot that causes your ankle to roll. Anyone else seeing this?

hey outcast, when you say there is a frame mounting issue for "this years" skates do you mean the new 2010 line with the boss se? If so good looking out because I was about to buy a new boss se at my lhs i'll def check it out.

Yeah I should specify I did mean this year (2010) model. Don't take my word for it though, look at a pair and make sure. We've been told the problem isn't everywhere but between all our locations we didn't find one pair that didn't have an off mounted right skate.

I can certainly understand the appeal of trying to make your purchase online but by stating you are going to use the lhs to evaluate fit and then plan to buy online I hope you are ready for the verbal beat down you are likely to get. Give the local store the sale if you are going to use their inventory and staff to evaluate fit plus you do not have to worry about finding a place to bake them or worry about returns. I have nothing against buying online but if you do don't steal services from the lhs.

On your original question +1 for the Commander Blacks on closeout a higher quality boot at a better price and heard only god things about them last season.
