Why are Canadians forced to pay higher prices for Hockey sticks

I'm getting a very tired of the fact that Americans get cheaper prices for everything. From cars to hockey sticks. We can't even get a stick shipped from the states because of "RULES". Has anyone in Canada found a way around this monopoly online?
