which wheels should i take off?

Recommended Posts

My wheels keep on braking because i play roller hockey 4-5 times a week and want to start playing with 3 wheels instead of 4. Ive been skating with 3 wheels but would like to know which wheel i should take out (front middle or back middle) to get the best performance and not trip on any whole because in the park i play there is a lot of tar which is supposed to fill in cracks but comes out of the ground. If you guys have any info on wheels that last long that would also help.

Thanks for the help

Don't take out any, buy the correct hardness of wheels. Taking out wheels is not good for the frames. You should get an 80a or harder for outdoors.

Or if you don't want to sacrifice grip with harder wheels all round, just put a very cheap hard wheel in the space that you were going to leave empty

if you take out any wheel, you'll be putting more weight over the remaining ones, and will break them easily

less wheels equals less grip

what kind of wheel are you using?

You're playing on asphalt, correct?

Don't buy the two that are listed at 74a. That's waywayway too soft for asphalt. Picking outdoor wheels is harder than indoor because surfaces can vary so much, and are affected more drastically by temperature. It's going to be matter of just trying different things until you find the best wheel for you. I would start by asking the people you play with what type of wheels they use. Someone with a similar weight to you who plays there will have a better idea than anyone here, plus if you can get other people in on your wheel search, it will go faster and probably be cheaper.

The wheels diablo posted are a little more expensive than the one's that you posted, but you're probably better off paying a little extra to get wheels that last longer.

Also make sure that you rotate your wheels regularly. This helps them wear evenly, and will allow you to get a couple extra games out of them.

no i dont play in a league just with a bunch of ppl on basketball courts or on the weekends i sometimes play in roller hockey rinks.

Oh well, you just need harder wheels. 80A. Put a set of those on your skates and rotate them regularly and they should last awhile.
