The Great Goalie Equipment Hunt

Recommended Posts

At the request of LawGoalie I'm posting the story of the my inline team's goalie equipment and how we've ended up in our current position.

First off, I go to a small college in western Pennsylvania. in 2000 two students started an ice hockey club but when they realized that the funding was not there to finance an ice team we switched to inline, and have been that way since. Fast forward to last year, our captain, club president, and goalie was basically completely in charge of the team. The club had fallen into obscurity and was basically scratching out its existence. Previously the club had invested in a complete set of goalie equipment that was to stay with the club until it needed replacing. Said captain appointed no other club officers and basically kept us all in the dark on financial situations, scheduling, uniforms... basically anything and everything. He graduated last spring, 2009, and when we came back this fall ready to revamp the club we found the bag of goalie equipment gone. Apparently he took it home with him at the end of the semester, got married, and moved to New Jersey taking the equipment with him. We asked for it back, but he's claiming it belongs to him, and because of the state of the club finances prior to this year we have no way of going back and showing that it is rightfully ours.

about a month or so ago I posted in the buy section that we are in need of an entire set of gear at incredibly discounted prices or on a donation basis. So far two MSH members stepped up allowing us to acquire leg pads and a C/A on great deals. If you have any questions just ask, I'll inform you on information that is mine to share, and any other stories of the generosity of the MSH community can go here. I've been a member for a little over a year now, and could not be happier with the general attitude of those here. Largely through encouragement of those here I've gotten back into ice hockey, and could not be happier with that decision.

Cheers all!

All the best, Joey. Here's hoping you hear back from everyone else who offered to donate/sell cheap, and get a few more offers as a result of this thread.

Without goalies, there is no hockey.

I have a set of heaton helites 32" that I could ship, as well as a int blocker rbk. I will look at what else I have but I would be willing to send it.

There is also a very slim chance I'll be able to send him a mask - but that won't be til the end of the season. Waiting to see if JR can spring something for me. :)

We're looking for specifically senior sized gear, but you thoughtfulness is appreciated...

Man, you're a saint. But seriously... your help is greatly appreciated in all manner since this adventure began.
