Glove issue (Bauer One55)

Recommended Posts

I'm relatively new to hockey. I picked up a pair of 14" Bauer One55 gloves to complete my first set of gear, but I'm constantly readjusting the glove on my lower hand because it feels like it's sliding off. Top top hand feels fine but I'm usually gripping with it so it's wouldn't be as noticeable.

I'm 5'9 and around 175 pounds. Most of my fingers come come to the tip of the glove or just a little short. I tried on a Bauer 4-roll in 13" to see if the size might be the problem. They felt alright, but all of my fingers were up against the tips and I was under the impression that gloves shouldn't fit that tight.

Let me know what you guys think. Is it the glove size or maybe the glove itself?

I don't know about One55's, but the One75's are the tightest fitting gloves I could find (I have smaller hands). The 4-Rolls are the widest/loosest fitting gloves I could find. Best thing to do is to try on every single glove at every single store you can find, then get the one that fits the best. All gloves will break in a bit, so they will end up a bit looser than when new. That's why I went with the One75's...they fit just a hair tight, and now they're just the tiniest bit loose, which is great.

Thanks. I'm going to hit my LHS again and try a bunch of 13" gloves. I ordered the one55s online and I haven't been able to find them in a shop to compare sizes. It sounds like they should be fitting tighter than they are though.

How do you generally feel about your fingers in a glove? Do you think they should all meet the tip before they're broken in? I've heard mixed opinions so that may come down to personal preference. I'm just not sure.

It is personal preference. I like mine to almost touch the ends so I get full control of the fingers, but I don't want them to feel smashed.

The gloves will stretch a bit as they wear. As long as my finger tips aren't pushing through the ends of the fingers, I'd rather have them right at the end as opposed to having any slop at the tips.

As another member has pointed out, the Supreme line of gloves have a nice snug fit and forms around your hand. Another glove you can try are the RBK 6k or 8k. They are very nice as well.

As far as the fit of the fingers, I like my fingers to be all the way to the end (kinda like how your toe brushes the toe cap in skates) and just let them break down. I have found that buying gloves with some room in the finger tips when they are new cause for a bad fit once they are broken in

rbk 6.0.6 not 8k, 8ks slightly looser, warrior bully would be close too

i feel you shouldn't get them so small that your fingertips brush the ends, my experience with the supremes is that they don't stretch as much. i suspect this has something to do with the synthetic materials.

something you could try is the samuelsson: put some tape around the glove where the cuff joins the glove. i find that can help, although it is ugly as hell!

The Bully's were really, really nice, a very close second to my One75's when I was shopping, but they were already a hair big. I like the gloves to not move around at all when I'm shaking my hands around.

And the One75's didn't open up much compared to other gloves...my R8's started out as slightly big 13's and when I sold them they felt like really loose 14's!

I've got the One70's and my finger tips are right at the end. I like the tighter fit of the supreme line. Like others have mentioned your probably a size to big. Hockey equipment is about trial and error, this won't be your first or your last experience with this. We've all been there.
