thundros85 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2010 Hey guys, Im looking for a lexan type material or synthetic ice material that i can get at a wholesale price so that i can practice my stickhandling at home. Ive been looking around and most sheets 3x6 run for about 90.00. I have a feeling i can buy it much cheaper if i can find a wholesale supplier of plastic materials. I'd appreciate any input and hopefully i can get something so i can get my dangles back. I have a training camp in the fall that id like to really excel at and get ready for. I Would really appreciate the input. Thanks

I dont know if it would be cheaper than trying to find a wholesaler but its much cheaper than the "hockey training" stuff sold online.
starsfan71 9 Report post Posted January 3, 2010 Head up to Lowes, Home Depot or whatever your local hardware store is and ask for High-density polyethylene you can probably just say HDPE and they will know what you are talking about, it is what a lot of those training pads are made of and you can get it for pretty cheap. chuffy 2 Report post Posted January 5, 2010 I'm guessing that these shooting pads that websites like hockeyshot.com sell have been further polished to give a better glide? This website in the uk sells sheets of HD polyethylene. 2x1 meter sheets for around £35-45 depending on thicknesshttp://www.theplasticshop.co.uk/polyethyle...ick-3605-0.html
heybrady 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 I read on here that someone used the laminate flooring you can get at any Home Depot-type store to practice on. I have that in my kitchen and the more I think about it, the more I think it would be perfect to train with. And it is cheap. Only about $1-2 per square foot. kakos26 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2010 I just went out to Home Depot and paid $25 for a nice piece of plexiglass, puck slides similar to ice. It cracks easily so I don't take clappers with it, I got a good sheet for the money too. But you could just grab one of hockeyshot probably better quality. Hope this helps.
