Nike Bauer XXXX gloves

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of vapor 40 gloves on layway. I was just wondering what some people think of the gloves. I personally purchased these rather then the vapor 40 pro's because of the "floating" cuff. What are some pros and cons of the glove ?

I also put a M11 Black with white vents helmet on layway for reffing. I was wondering what some of your guys opinions are of the helmet and the overall performace of it ?

can't comment on the XXXX gloves, but i like my M11. A little less airflow than my 8K. But I like knowing that I've probably got the best head protection available. Aside from the airflow and maybe it being a little heavier it comes out on top since I love how the back head adjustment is. Makes the helmet feel nice an snug with no pressure points.

Like its been said many times before, people don't hesitate to pay top dollar for a stick or gloves. but the most important part of our body seems to play second fiddle alot.

I would think that the white vents would be a no-no for refs in most hockey associations.....

I can order the black vents but, if your allowed to have the silver/grey things in the 6k and the 8k then why not the white vents ?

true. i've seen plenty of refs with the black/silver 8k

I don't own the regular version of the gloves, but I wouldn't mind getting a pair one day.

I DO have pro version and I love them.

The regular ones seem.... more bulky and sturdy if that makes sense. Harder to break in and probably less mobile when you first get them.

I have also had Vapor XXVs and loved them.

From the couple times I have tried them on in the store, I like them. I hope you like them too.

The cuff thing is kinda neat.

I know what you mean by feeling more "bulky" but when I tried both on, the regular vapor 40's seemed to be more protective and, believe it or not more of a tight fit. With the style of game I play I need the more protection haha. As far as the helmet goes, it seems liek I can get a better fit with that then I can with my 6K.

The price I paid for them is kinda ridicolus but, I need a pair of gloves that will probably last me for the rest of my "career" and the only "cheaper" gloves that were there were honestly very low end gloves. If I had of ordered them online it would've cost me just as much by the time you added shipping/handeling and currency exchange as I paid at the LHS.

I was just wondering if my Itech X100 will fit on my M11 ? If not I guess it's time for a new visor too haha.

the white vents will be significantly flashier than the silver on the RBK helmets.

USA Hockey has some might picky rules about visible equipment but most local affiliates will let small things slide. for instance, USA Hockey prefers for refs to wear Bauer Supreme and Graf skates because they are almost all black. they weren't wild about the Bauer Vapors when they increased the amount of lighter-colored material in their boot. also, USA Hockey states that refs should wear white laces with NO dots. most refs I know still use regular white laces and very rarely does anyone say anything about it.

I'm sure it depends on A) your ref association and b ) the level of games that you're doing.

I agree that the vents will be somewhat flashier but, I referee under Hockey Canada, Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador out of Corner Brook. Here the rules about skate color, helmet colors and lace colors are certainly enforced but, not to an extreme level. I currently referee House League and "Allstar", I do the lines on Junior "B" and almost all of the High School games here. Hopefully next year when I move up that other level I will be doing the lines on the local senior games. As a rule, I do use white laces, however, the supreme series skates don't fit me well so I got a pair of vapor 40's. There are pleanty of officials here that wear the 8K. However, if it is going to be that big of an issue I will order the black vents for the helmet. Is there a website that I can use for this or do I have to go through my LHS.

BTW 1-0 Canada, from a Local Boy!

Yeah i noticed the same thing, Franchise has alot more room but the wrist mobility was not restricted in either. This was with the pros.
