I am in the market for new shoulder pads and shinpads. I do not want to spend too much on the pads so will most likely purchase a package from hockeymonkey. Any insight into the nikebauer xxxx and the RBK 9k series shoulderpads and shinguards would be greatly appreciated.

I have xxxx shins. They are narrow. If you have big calfs you may not like them. I haven't felt any discomfort yet blocking shots. I like them.

I have XXXX shins AND big calfs and I think they cover them great. I do, however think that the XXXX shins are a little longer than others by about a quarter of an inch. great protection though.

can't go wrong with rbk protective's, rbk shins fit wider than the xxxx's, so best bet is try them on

sorry about that, I am currently playing in a rec league. Hitting is minimal, but the pace is quite fast. A lot of hacking happens though. I am going to be picking up equipment on the weekend as soon as I am free from school workload. I have also been intrigued by the ccm v08 LE equipment lineup. I had a chance to try on the xxxx shins and the 15' does not go all the way down to wear I like (over the tongue). I am 6' . My LHS did not have any 16' nor will they in the future.

As a side, I picked up a pair of V08 pants for $60 brand new. Not sure how great of a pant it is until i get to try it out but the guy said I can return it if I don't like it as long as it looks new and in one piece within a week.
