Is the feel of the ST similar to the S17 or the SE16?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I saw the ST on sale today and was pretty tempted and was wondering does it have the similar feel of the S17 (lively) or the SE16 (softer)? What's the difference between the 09 model and the 10' model($40 more)?

Thanks.

I have not used the S17 or SE16 but I do have one of the new ST's. The stick is a freaking tank! Receiving passes is ok, same with stickhandling. The stick feels like it torques open during passing and shooting which I do not like. My shot is noticeably slower with the ST compared to my Supreme One85. It has become my back-up. It is noticeably heavier than my one85 as well. But if I want to bust someone else"s stick(just a joke) it is my number one choice!

Oh and for some reason after taking a lot of slap shots with the st all my joints hurt like a mis-hit with a wood baseball bat. Where my one85 feels like a warm knife through butter!

Have to agree, the ST is definatly a different feel, and as stated, it is a tank. It feels like the old aluminums as to how solid. I like it, but can't load it the way I did with the Synergy Elite, U+, or OnePro (One90).

Really wish the SE16 would come down in price! I guess I will be waiting until the summer or next year.

Never used a S17 but I own a 09 ST and SE16. I got the ST as a back up and have been using it as my primary stick for a while. It's strong as hell. It will probably last you quite a while. The shaft feels a little wide. I switched back to my SE16 recently and I think using the ST for a while has improved my game when I went back to the lighter stick. I noticed i can shoot a lot harder with the SE16 despite it being the same flex. They don't feel the same to me one bit.

The Easton ST is a tank, but surprisingly light. I had a batch of 3 or 4 of them and sold my last one around the holidays. If I was not using the One95 two piece setup, I'd probably still be using an ST or Stealth CNT

I love my STs. They are the only stick I have used since 2006. I have a few pro stocks left, but because I like them so much (and the fact that I'm a gear whore) I picked up a couple of the 09 STs as well. I have to say that the feel of the retail seems to be a lot more "forgiving". I cant really describe it, but it just feels easier receiving pucks with the 09 retail stick vs the Pro stocks from 07-08. Regardless, I love the STs. Now that I only play recreational hockey, durability is what I look for, and these sticks are the tits! Once the 2010 models go on sale, you better bet I will get a couple of them as well. :D

But I will tell you when these things do decide to break (which usually takes an average of a year for me(knock on wood because I hate seeing my sticks break)), it really gives you a sense of accomplishment. Only later do you feel bad that you just broke a really beautifully designed stick.

If only I could get the same shot out of an ST as I do out of my One85's!

I have three prostock ST's as well. I love them. They truly are durable as hell. I use as well a prostock One95 that was a 107 flex before i cut it down so its very stiff. One of the ST's was a 110 before cutting down and when i take slappers w/ the two the ST is my preferred stick. It loads and kicks way smoother IMO.

Huh! Interesting!

My One 85's are 112 flex and the new ST is a 100 flex and it feels like it loads less than the SUpreme. No way near the shotter my supremes are. I guess that is why they make different sticks!
