Will a long end plug work in my broken shaft?

Two games ago a guys shot went off the top of my shaft and broke it 11" down from the top. If I got a 12" wood plug or a 9" composite, do you think it would still be usable? It doesn't seem like it would mess up the flex, just might throw off the weight.

It's no huge deal since I found this stealth on the floor at the rink. But I really loved it as a shaft and if I can keep it going for 5-$25 I might do it.

I did a search, it doesn't seem like it would do anything negative, but it's a bit lower on the shaft than the intended use.

Thanks.

To be honest, I'd say you should keep it as a practice stick. I had a 12inch plug before, lasted a good shift or two before the tenon of the end plug broke. Maybe it was too much flexing of the shaft (play inline with a lot of snap shots).

If it broke 11" from the top a 9" composite plug won't do much good.

Get the 12" wood extension and keep the stick going.

I add a 1-4" wood plug to all my sticks for the solid feel and to improve the balance. PP, of course, but $3.99 isn't much of an investment if you like the shaft.

I doubt it would last very long. That far down on the stick, any shot with some flex on the shaft will either break the tenon off or break the shaft where the tenon goes in. Worth a shot though. What do you have to lose other than a few bucks for the plug.

Ive actually never had a problem with this sort of situation, like with a 12"+ wood plug, although Ive only done it twice haha. Ive never brought either stick back into real competition but kept them around for outdoor/shinny use, and theyve both held up just fine. Just watch if you have to file down the tenon at all, that weakens it quite a bit, as Ive found out.

cool, thanks all.

I'll give it a try with the cheap wood plug. I'm no power-shooter so it might work out. Or it might not. For $5 it's worth a try.

back when the grip synergys were all the rage a team mate of mine broke his around the same place where you broke yours, so i went to peranis and they had an old wood stick, chopped off the top sanded it down and put it in. lasted for a good amount of time, the blade was the part that broke, but if you really like the stick id get it srs'd. did that to a msu one95 in virtually the same spot and its pretty flawless.

I would save the $5 and just buy another Stealth shaft. You'll see some deals on eBay at odd times...you just have to be patient.

I did this for my brother when a team mates stealth broke in the same spot. Pretty sure the stick is still in our basement, he used it for a couple seasons.
