Thin blade?

Recommended Posts

I have read many comments praising thin blades. For the folks that like thin blades, what do you like about them?

I've been experimenting with composite OPS for the past year and I still can't get used to them. I recently popped in an Easton Pro Custom wood blade and it was golden. In comparing a one95 OPS (seems to have a thin blade) with a ST OPS, I like the puck feel of the one95 but prefer the overall "solidness" of the ST. With the thin blade on the one95, I feel like the puck is heavier than the blade, so it feels awkward striking the puck. The ST feels solid, but I can't feel the puck on the blade.

I always felt that One95 blades were pretty thick but I'll take the good feel anytime. I noticed S19s have pretty thin blades but I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah I noticed that pro stock rbk/ccm sticks that have that kind of blade material tend to be pretty thin but everytime I see that Perron curve it's just one step further.

I have a few TPS (adrenaline) sticks and they seem to have a pretty thin blade compared to a lot of the sticks on the market.

You must have a non-retail version because all retail TPS OPS I have had from the original yellow Response, XN10, Adrenaline, and Response Armour have pretty thick blades. The R8 and R10 blades are about half as thin. Other thin blades I have used are the Harrow composite blades and some Vapor XX composite blades. To get back onto the topic, I find it a lot easier to roof the puck on backhands with thin blades.

I find the SE16 tapered blade to be pretty thin, for sure thinner than both the one95 OPS blade (which has been accurately described as rather thick) and the Dolo blades. I can also agree with the previous poster saying that it is easier to lift backhands with a thinner blade. I found to have more control with the SE16 blade, however they do seem to be a tad pingier than say dolo blades, while still retaining a great puckfeel.
