Knee Stretches?

Recommended Posts

The topic description says it all, beside basic quad, calf and hamstring stretches, is there anything that'll help?

It's something that comes occasionally, bottom middle of my knee, and goes if I rest it. It's looking like patellar tendonitis, possibly because I have a genetic misalignment of my right knee. If anyone has ever had this problem before...

I have a similar thing, although it was diagnosed as "jumper's knee". Obviously you need a professional diagnosis and referral to a PT. Stretches and strengthing is great, but you should focus on getting the swelling down -I ice the knee after every skate, and its made a big difference.

There are only so many muscles to stretch. See somebody who can help, stretching can irritate an injury. Sometimes you need to get the swelling down, let it rest, and then gradually work in the stretching and strengthening.

I think I might've misstated- it was only swelling a little in the area near the patella where there was a bruise, so swelling isn't the real problem. The real problem was the tightness and patellar pain when I skated/walked/etc.

I think very few of us have the medical credentials to advise you.... even if we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Your knees are not something to screw with - especially if you are getting pain and swelling form stuff like walking..... Go see someone that knows what they're talking about and go from there. If you don't like what you hear, then get a second opinion.... I wake up with knee pain and deal with it every day.... I abused them 40 of my 44 years and can no longer remember a day where at least one of them didn't ache......
