Consensus on the reputations of the tapered blades?

Recommended Posts

I have a T-Flex and another tapered shaft on the way, so it's time for a tapered blade. It seems that they all have a reputation, but I haven't been able to find enough cumulatively to come to a conclusion.

Easton SE16 blade: some say they crack easily, splinter, etc. Others say they're the best available.

Warrior blade: I hear they feel good, but some say they have a tendency to break the lower part out of non-Dolemite shafts. Tenon problems? Others say they feel completely dead.

Bauer X60: I had one in an X60 shaft, but only took about 8 shots with it. I don't like the feel of most Bauer sticks, but I'm not sure if that's due to their shaft or blades. Some say these blades are having major durability issues.

Harrow 300: Good mix of feel and performance, but some break right away. Great price though.

Can anyone add their experiences or reputations you've concluded on these blades? I obviously know that all blades will have problems and break. Just basically looking for a consensus on what each are known for.

I'm currently using a synergy SE blade and both the dolomite first-gen and HD blades.

The se16 blade definitely has the lowest durability, at least in terms of cosmetics, but it's definitely meant for shooting. Snapshots come off harder than on my dolomites.

As for the warrior blades, I feel that the first-gen has the ceramic feel that I liked the most. At first I hated it but I grew to love it. As soon as the HD came along, I was totally thrown off. In comparison to the first-gen and to the synergy SE, the dolomite HD feels dead. Same goes for the AK HD blade I'm using.

I don't know if it's the shafts that are making the difference (I've paired dolomite shafts with dolomite blades and synergy 2's with synergy se's) but from what I can tell, the HD series of warrior products has left me a little disappointed in terms of feel and performance. I also have to note that the durability of the HD series is worser than the first-gen. First ice time with it and I have a series of paint chips and cuts. By comparison, my first gen is still going strong and still looks new.

I've had the best luck with the Harrow 300s for durability and shooting with pretty good feel too. Eastons and Warriors had good feel for me, but not much luck with durability. I haven't used Bauers since they dropped the p02 from their retail lineup.

My experiences:

Easton - great puck feel, chipped at the heel and went soft really fast

Warrior - ceramic/bad puck feel, outstanding durability, new HD blades have better feel but don't seem as durable

Bauer - ceramic/bad puck feel, outstanding durability, very similar to the older Warrior

Harrow - great puck feel, much better durability than Easton but not as durable as the older Warrior, also cheap, don't seem to have the tenon problems of the older models

Basically I really like the Harrow blades, but I'm not super hard on them.

I like the "nervous" feel of the older Warrior blades. I've had great luck with durability with Warrior/Inno tapered blades.
