Skate Fit Issue

Recommended Posts

My CCM U+ reloaded skates are killing my feet, they don't hurt when I am wearing them but when I take them off I have a hard time standing. They hurt the most in the forefoot area. I have had the skates since February and they have been baked twice, I skate 2-3 times a week so I think they are broke in. I have recently gone back to my vapor xxx. Is this just the wrong skate for me????? What would be the best for me(wide forefoot, flat arch) Thanks

Have you tried getting them punched out? Maybe try custom insoles?

Unfortunately it sounds like you may have the same problem as I do. I have the RBK 9k, which is essentially the same boot as the CCMs. If you look at the skates side-by-side, you can see that the toecaps are identical. This is where the problem lies for me, the toecap is too narrow and pinches my toes together. In my case it has led to damage to my big toenail and I'm going to lose it.

I went skate fitting this past weekend, and surprisingly the best fit I've found is the Bauer Supreme line. The toecap space is much more open and comfortable to me. It sucks because my skates are only 4 months old, but hopefully Ebay can help us out, right?

No matter how some players try there are some skates which may just not suit your type of foot. It may be your feet just aren't meant for CCM's or Reeboks. I personally don't seem to get a good fit in Grafs, no matter what diffferent fits they seem to offer. You may be better suited for a Bauer Supreme or Vapor skate or an Easton skate. You'll need to get to a LHS and try out several different brands and see which fits you best and what width is best as well.

It may not be the skate at all. Try getting a pair of superfeet put in to the skate. It could just be that the skate doesn't suit the arch in your foot very well.

Had the same problem, they would start to hurt toward the end of skates and then off the ice it felt like my feet had been in a vice. Tried superfeet and they helped a little, but there is no getting around a poor fit for your fit. Ended up in Vapor 60's in the same width and they felt great from the first time. I have a perfect Vapor foot and shouldn't have tried to force it with the CCMs.

i went from 60's ( which fit perfect besides haglunds issues) to u's and have the same problem. baked them twice tried every dif lacing method. but after 2- 3 months on the 4-5 times a weeks sometimes my feet hurt a little sometimes i cant even walk for a min or two after taking them off bc it feels like my feet are broken. going back to bauer as soon as i get back to the states. moral of the story. DONT try to force a skate to work that just doesnt. price, brand, or even i higher end skate will not help you if the fit is off

As mentioned numerous times you need to find a skate that fits you the best and stick to it. Forget all the hype about different brand names and what your buddies are wearing or the skates that are the most popular, and focus specifically on the fit. Once you find the right skate ,stick with it unless the manufacturer happens to change the fit. Then fair enough you'll need to try something different. Once your comfortable with a specific skate you'll find everything will fall into place and you'll be a better skater for it.

Today I was at my lhs and I tried all the different skates on Reebok, Easton, Graf, and Bauer. After all the different skate I am sure the supremes are the best fit, they felt great. I think those are my skate. Thanks for all the input guys.

Obviously everyone has a unique experience but mine goes as following:

I was recently in the market for new skates and the 2 in my price range were the Supreme One75's and the 08 U+ Pro's. The Bauer's felt great in the store, better than the CCM's, but ultimately I went with the CCM's because I liked the idea of the customizable fit. I can honestly say that after baking them a few times and skating on them they feel amazing.

Yep, stick to what fits.

I used Easton skates (SE Line) for the past 3 years, then I tried to go to CCM Pro Reloadeds...Did not work out well. They didn't fit me well at all.

Today I find myself in S17's :)

I got my one100's in and skated yesterday, and they felt really good, no pain at all and I didn't even bake them. They are stiffer than the CCM's I noticed, no foot pain though, great looking as well. Overall very happy with them.
