Bauer Professional 86/96 Skates

Does anybody have any experience with these? They are going for $50 on hockeyworld. Model 86 come with ICM holders, model 96 come with TUUK Custom. Text on the advert says they are Custom plus. I am pretty sure it is an original Custom with non-removable Fasteel blade.

I have heard that these fit like Daoust 501 but much much softer. They were also made by CANSTAR (that owned Micron, Lange, Flak, etc.). Here is a link: http://www.hockeyworld.com/index/page/prod...+Skates-+Senior

$50 is not that much to spend on Canadian made skates. My biggest concern is getting my geriatric ankles sprained or even fractured.

Any information on these is much appreciated.

Honestly based on what I'm seeing/reading, your not going to get diddly in ankle support. Great for free skate but I wouldn't recommend for hockey.

Those skates are very, very old. As far as the industry goes, ancient. Even when they were brand new they were probably not great in terms of ankle support and god knows how they've been stored since then.

If you're worried about your ankles, there's MUCH better support out there. Best bet is to hit up a shop and get some advice there. Might be able to get a pair of One55s or a comparable skate on sale which has very good ankle support at a good price.

The felt tongues and the ICM holders(if you like really, really flat blades) are almost worth $50, maybe.

I used Vapor 40s and original U+ Pro's for my skates. CCM does fit me better.

I have pins in my left foot from a long time ago, that is why I was worried about ankle support.

I think this one will have to pass, money will be better off spent on beer.
