Dan_The_Man_16 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 My Graf 502's are really hurting my heel. My righ skate feels perfect, most comfortable skate ever, however my left skate is giving me a mad blister every time I skate in it on the back left side of the ankle. I felt the inside of the skate and it seems to be just the liner covering a plastic insert. Is this punchable? If so do you think that will relieve the pain? bulletproof_funk 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Best to doublecheck with your LHS or Graf dealer, but from my experience with my 609's punching the heel is possible. My left foot also had heel problems probably because my left foot is smaller at the heel than my right foot. Punching it out helped a bit, but I ended up taping a small gel pad at the problem spot and it seems better now.
Dan_The_Man_16 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Same deal here with the left being smaller then the right. Where did you get the gel pad from? I wouldn't mind trying that before I risk breaking the boot.
TCsnipes9 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 sounds like im having the exact same problem (709 SEs) could it be due to heel spurs? all of my friends (who skate a lot) have them and it seems as though its due to skating. do you have bumps on the back of your heels? (btw, i just skated through it for a while and now it doesnt seem to bother me too much)
Dan_The_Man_16 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Yeah, I have heel spurs. But I had them before I had the skates. It just casues a blister on them, I'm guessing it's because my left foot is about 1/2 a size smaller then the other.
bulletproof_funk 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 My local Graf dealer also sells figure skates and they sold these gel ankle sleeves primarily for figure skaters. I just cut off a small patch and taped it into the heel area. They sold smaller gel pads as well.
mseguin 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 If I may ask funk, who's your LHS, I think I know.
Pats 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 I think what you need done is not necessarily punching out, but you need something added (ie. thin foam of some sort) on the bottom of the insole to raise it ever so slightly. When people come into our proshop this seems to work well. Talk to your LHS they will have probably encountered this problem before.

My LHS added lifts cut out from a 2mm thick cork sheet when I bought my skates to keep my heel locked down better. I still got a bump on my left heel anyways even though I never felt the heel lift. I agree that adding small lifts is still worth trying.
