One100 vs One80

Recommended Posts

I haven't been able to find much in the way of reviews and comparisons between the Supreme One100 and One80 skates. I need to buy new skates, and am torn on which one to go with. I've tried both on, and they feel pretty much the same in the store, as I would expect. Looking at the list of "features" and materials between the two, the differences mean absolutely nothing to me.

Can anyone say what the real-world differences are in the skates? I am a rec league player, so I don't need Pro level skates. I do think skating is my strongest asset though and don't want to skimp in that area. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you have access to a pair of one95s that would fit I'd suggest that. Same skate as the one100 (almost) at a cheaper price, and still a better skate than the one80.

Believe me I have been looking...but they are pretty much gone. I keep an eye on Ebay but it's mostly just pro stock versions I find there, and I don't want to risk getting a custom fit that doesn't match what I tried on in-store. Thanks though!

I've skated on my One100s about a month now and all around they are great skates. The liner is great, its nice and stiff, very protective.

I can't tell if I don't like the LS2.1 steel or the negative pitch on the skate, but I'm going to get them profiled +2 to put them at what the vapors are. If that still doesn't feel right ill get regular LS2 steel and put them at Vapor pitch. I'll most likely get them rebaked in the coming week to dial them in since they broke in a little bit.

Ive used the One80 and it is a great skate. Extremely stiff and very nice materials. The One100 is just overkill unless you have extra cash just laying around. The One80 is NO slouch.

If your not playing competative hockey don't waste your cash on a top of line skate like the One100, there's really no point to it. The amount of any higher performance you'll get is pretty negligible. The One80 is plenty of skate for the average player and in my opinion is an excellent skate with very good features. I have played in a competative men's league for many years and have only once owned a top of the line skate. Performance wise there is little or no difference to my game. I usually go one or two categories down from the top of the line skate and it has worked out well for me and saved me lots of cash. Essentially this is what your doing and it is a good decision.

What size are you?

8.5D

Thanks for the replies guys. I am leaning towards the one80 I think. I also tend to go just under top of the line for best value/performance. I do play what I consider "competitively" lol, but I won't ever have anyone paying me to do so :P

Good decision my friend. I think you'll like the One80 a lot and you'll have saved yourself a fair amount of cash in the process.

i think he might of meant height and weight.

the one100 is a stiff as balls skate with some slightly nicer features like a slightly thicker tongue, vents in the outside, some reinforcements in certain areas.

so you'll be fine in a one80.
