ABS Blades

Recommended Posts

What are some of the good, and not so good ABS blades you guys have used? I don't really have that much money to buy a composite blade and I really like how thin the ABS blades are.

Vector ABS blades seem to hold up really well, I also like the fact they come in real curves. Most other ABS blades are just Banana curves for street hockey.

This first link is to probably one of the most durable street hockey blades i have tried - and i have tried alot of them.

This second one is the one i am using right now and is almost as durable as the first one - the only difference is this has a much bigger curve (which i like)

The Sherwood 405 is available in the Leclair curve, which isn't as big a hook as the Coffey shown on that website.

I'm using a V60 from CCM at the moment, and liking it much more than I thought I would. I use it for both ice and inline, and it's holding up pretty well so far.

The old CCM 1052 blade was the best ABS blade I've used, but they don't make them anymore. The worst ABS blade I've used would be the Mission Durablade. Lucky to get a game out of one. The Easton ABS blades used to de-laminate pretty easily, but I haven't used one in years, so they may have improved them.

I'm a fan of the Vector V30/V60 ABS blades, you still get great feel out of them, and they are great for the more budget-conscience players out there. The only problem for me is I am having a very hard time finding any in the Thornton pattern.

The Koho and Jofa hybrids are pretty close to it. Beside you can find the CCM ones for really cheap now. I got a pro stock one last year for $10 and the retail ones go for $15 where i live.

They're definitly great for street, roller or ice.

This thread is pretty old, summer coming soon what ABS blades are good now?

Try Montreal wood blades. They aren't ABS but they also don't melt like most woodies do with concrete. They're more expensive $25ish US but they hold up like tanks and their feel is on par with composite.

Perani's (www.hockeyworld.com) used to have Pro return Koho blades that were awesome. SUPER durable, and really thin. I'd use them when I used to play roller hockey every now and then during the summer on an outside rink, they last FOREVER...

Ive tried Bauer, CCM, Koho and Easton. The only blade that stands up to our outdoor rink for a reasonably long period of time is Montreal blades. $25 isn't unreasonable for a blade IMO. Especially when it lasts a few weeks longer then a $20 ABS blade.

Have you tried these Koho Pro returns? b/c they're $10 and they're kevlar, super thing blades, and really durable. I can't see anything touching it in durability, weight and feel.

Never tried them. For $10 I would consider it. Only if they had something that compares to a Warrior Smyth or Montreal Coffey/Euro.

Call: 1-800-FACEOFF (322-3633) or 1-800-888-GOAL (4625)

it's on the top of the page. I doubt highly they'd do COD, very very few people use that anymore.

You don't get to choose the patterns before hand, but most are pretty awesome heel curves. I ordered 3 about 5 years ago, I don't play a lot of roller hockey, just a few months in between seasons in the summer, but those things have lasted. For $10, worth it.
