Buying partial ticket plan - Need opinions

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to buy a partial ticket plan for 2 seats for Coyotes games.

Option A is a 4 game pack in lower level seating(about 10-20 rows up) for about $500.

Option B is an 11 game pack in upper level(probably try for 1st or 2nd row if available) for the same $500.

Which would you choose?

I'd go option b. I've attended tons of college/nhl games at Joe Louis arena and my favorite seats are the first few rows of the upper bowl. Close enough to the action so that you get all of the sounds and action of the game... but you're just above the glass level and far enough away that you get a full, unobstructed view of the ice.

I have had season tix for the Islanders for years. I choose to sit in the 3rd row of the top level behind the goal. Perspective is really good and it is really not that high. You do not have to turn your head at all and you see the plays and positioning. Although I can afford the lower level seats I enjoy these better. Plus you are almost getting 3x the games in your case. Definitely more bang for your buck. Enjoy the games!

Keep in mind, while the ticket price between the two may be the same, you still have to consider parking, refreshments, etc. That said, there aren't many bad seats in NHL arenas these days, and for my money, more games is better than sitting 40 feet closer to the ice.

If this is for the PHX coyotes I would chose neither unless they are major perks for being a game plan holder... You can buy tickets in the 1st level for pretty cheap just as singles off ebay, craigslist, or at the rink. They never sell out and always have some kind of special, last year I think they had seats with food and drink included for 25 bucks ... I think my wife's cousins went there and bought 4 tickets 8 rows off the ice for under 150 bucks ...

I took advantage of some of those last year. The only reason I was thinking about a 4 or 11 game pack was to get lower cost tickets come playoff time(assuming they make it again) and that some of the games I want will be sold out for good seats and full gate prices most likely (Pittsburgh & Washington).

A friend of mine had center ice, row 14 at the Pepsi Center. What made them so good is they were high enough to see over the scratchiness of the glass. Indeed, Bettman and Gretzky sat in his seats during the All Star Game in 2001. I went to the game with him three times and thought the view was fantastic.

Later, I ended up buying a ticket out front that was for center ice, row 3 of the balcony. Behind me was a cement wall, so I was able to sit on the seat in such a way that I could see over the heads of the two rows in front of me without blocking anyone behind me. I'd estimate that the balcony was about the equivalent of twenty rows further from the ice, but the perspective was better, while the cost was about 1/3. For the money, those seats were a much better value than the one Bettman picked....
