Skates for bad ankles

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you know of a good pair of skates for extremely thin ankles? I'm trying to buy a pair of hockey skates for my GF, but her ankles are very small and she has high arches in her feet-- any info is appreciated

For "bad ankles", people always recommend Graf 709 because of the high cut. Since you say her ankles are thin they definitely wouldn't make sense. I'd guess you should just buy something narrow like the Bauer Vapor series or something in a narrow (B/C) width. Then just buy a pair of insoles to cover the arch issue.

be careful with the 709,... they might be a high cut, but are a deep skate for wider feet.

Also, you might have an issue if you buy insoles to sort out your problem as they might take up the volume needed in the skate.

Best would be to take her down to a store to get her measured up etc... saves you the hassle of getting something that she might not like and then hate hockey.

The skinniest, high-arch skate I've ever tried on was the Vector 10.0(light, shiny blue on top), I believe the Vector Pro and Externo were similarly cut.
