Helmet Broke

I was working on some skating drills, going full speed and managed to fall and crack my head on the ice hard. as this happened, the helmet flew off and the visor cut my face open. when inspecting the two day old helmet, the adjustment was broken which is why it was able to fall off. It was correctly adjusted before impact. Now obviously this helmet will be replaced on warranty but I think there's a bigger issue. My impact wasn't huge but I ended up geting a concussion from it. Had I been playing and that happened during an impact with another player, the helmet could be off before i hit the ice. I don't want to mention the helmet or the company, but what should I do, who should I contact?

I'm going to guess that your chin strap was loose enough that it was completely ineffective.

If your strap is hanging loose no helmet will stay on. If it won't stay on it can't protect you. If on the other hand you did a face plant, a visor isn't designed to protect you from smashing your face into the ice and you either accept the danger or wear a cage.

I'd never tell anyone how to wear their equipment, but I do notice the guys that wear pads older than they are, that don't fit, and are barely hanging on their body, are the ones that are constantly limping off the ice, and missing games due to injury.

get another helmet and go play some hockey. thats what you should do!

I wish, because it's my second one I apparently could be out for 2-3 months according to neurologist.
