Is is possible to punch Regular RBK 9K's to an E width?

Recommended Posts

Here's the deal. I skate in a set of RBK 5K's and I love them. They are size 7.5W and fit me perfect from the first lace-up. I have the opportunity to buy a lightly used set of 9k's in 7.5R for $50 and wondered, "Hmmm, I wonder if I could punch those out to fit me juuuuusst right?" It would certainly be nice but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone with experience in this area please sound off! Thanks

Maybe I'll give it a whirl then. I can lace up the regulars - it just causes mind-bending pain across my forefoot. I was always under the impression that Reeboks did more with the toebox & forefoot when jumping a width.

If it causes that much pain, there's no chance it will work.

i've done it with my 9k's..the heel fit fine..it was just the part before the toe cap that needed more width...took me about an hour with each skate and a hair dryer

what kind of tools that you use to punch it? and do i have to put a lot of heat on the boot?

Here's the deal - I'm going to get the skates and try to have them punched at my LHS. They said it may take a few days as they can only do 1 at a time as they will leave them in the press overnight. If it works out - woohoo! If is doesn't work out, I'll just pretend that I bought a set of backup holders, steel and insoles for my 5ks.

I'll keep you updated on my boot-stretchin' progress.

Yes; tell me more . . .

i heated up the skate with a hairdryer till it was burning hot then with thick socks on i put on the skate and pressed down just before the toe and until it fit comfortably...held it there till i could hold no more...and repeated many times until they fit comfortably unheated. It's definitely possible to give the skates more width..just gota put a lota time into it.

Update: I didn't buy the skates. They were beat to death after only 1 season. I wondered why until he told me he played for the Youngstown Phantoms (USHL). He probably put more miles on those skates in 1 season than I could over 5 years.

Anyways, if you're on this forum reading this, my apologies for dragging you out tonight. Best of luck!

I guess I'm going to hold out for KoSports annual sale and pick up some sweet new kicks around 40% off next year. Thanks for the help mateys!
