Shooter Tutor

Recommended Posts

I do alot of shooting in my backyard and ive gone through a couple of shooter tutors. They tend to break with a hard shot hitting within a couple of inches of a strap that goes around the post. Just today i broke 4/9 straps in half. If anyone has any info on a good shooter tutor that will last a long time it will be appreciated.

Would you consider one that is not strapped into a net? I've shot on the Sniper's Edge down at BASE Hockey and it holds up pretty well. It requires a larger area of space to hang it up and you don't get the pleasure of hearing the 'ping' sound when you hit the posts. But if durability is higher on your priority list then you might want to consider it.

I put brass grommets where the straps are and then use elastic cords or bungee balls to hold the canvas in place. They seem to not break very often, and if they do they are cheap to replace. The canvas target itself will last a long time.

It's also halloween, you might get a small plastic pumpkin and hang if from the corner with some string. Direct hits are very satisfying.

You could make your own out of a 4' x 8' piece of 3/4inch plywood and a couple of j-hooks. Probably cost about $20. The only downside is that they are pretty loud when you bang a puck off of them.

And will leave wood splinters on the ice.

Says he is in the backyard. Wood is probably the cheapest option.
