Favorite Bauer Helmet?

5500 cause it's the bauer I own. Period.

got it on close-out sale and I am happy although when it comes off after a game I get comments such as "dude, you got 'dent's in your forehead, loosen up the helment' but it feels great and I like it a lot.

Is the protection for the 4500 a lot less than the 5000? I mean it certainly looks that way, but I want to see if you guys actually thinks it makes a HUGE difference?

Why does the 4500 look like it has less protection than the 5000? Doesn't it come down to whether you want VN or EPP in your helmet?

I love my 9900 helmet (even though I think that paying that much for a helmet is ridiculous!) the ventilation is decent but the comfort foams make it very comfortable. I love the dials on the back because it helps me get a great fit even though my head size is right between a large and medium.

And I think that VN or EPP all comes down to preference. Theyre both certified so I dont think that one is not protective enough. And unless your going head first into the boards I dont really think you'll notice a difference.

I'm also using the 5500, the adjusters are terrible but it fits my dome well. When I got it, it was a nice compromise of features and price from some of the higher models.

I've been from 5000s to a 4500 to a 5100 and the 5100 is by far my favorite, the fact it fits my head best being no small reason. After I got my first concussion many years ago, and was unaware that helmet fits varied, I was just told that the 5000 was the most protective bucket. After switching to the 4500 I realized the 5000 was too wide around the sides of my head. The 5100 then improved on the fit of the 4500 by having a shallower crown so that my head was now fully snugged in all dimensions of the helmet. I also find the padding in the 5100 to be by far the most comfortable, and it's nice to have a VN helmet with tool-free adjustment. For the record I had medium 5000s, a small 4500 and a small 5100.

can we include coopers in this thread as well. if so then my favorite is the xl7 followed closely behind by the sk2000. went as tron for holloween.

on the serious side i would say that my favorite is my 8500vn. hurts when i put it on but after 10 minutes it feels great.

Agreed, 8500VN rough for a bit and then it settles in NICE.
