Big dif between 9k and X;60's?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I always come back here when im looking for some advice/opinions on gear. You guys know your stuff. I currently wear Reebok 7ks from 3 years ago. Theyve been "ok" to me. I hate the tongue, but they have served their purpose.

But its time for some new kicks, as the 7k's are falling apart (tendon guard completely came off)

Im fortunate that I play with a guy who owns a local shop. He can hook me up with a like new/used pair of RBK 9k's for 200$, or a NEW pair of x:60's for 350$...... I tried on both pairs, and both fit fine, but I cant judge the X:60's without baking them, and skating with them. Both are extra wides, and both feel fine on my feet

Now I know, what I will get with the RBK's, so would a guy notice a HUGE difference trying somethign new for the sake of trying something new in hopes of more comfort and support?!? Im not married to RBK, but I am curious from guys who have worn both, if theres any major differenes they felt when skating in the x60's vs the rbk series...

Thanks for any help/suggestions

I should add that I am 30 years old, played all my life, not an OVERLY strong skater, and Im a taper due to "weak" ankles!

Might not be a bad idea to go with the RBK's since they have worked for you in the past. Maybe ask your buddy if you can buy them and skate a few times in them then return them for the x60's if they don't work out since the RBK's are lightly used anyways.

$350 for new x60's seems like a great price, but the vapor line and rbk's usually fit fairly differently. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't rbk's tend to fit "wider" and have more volume than the vapor line? If your buddy can get you a deal on a skate from the "one" line of Bauers you may wanna give those a shot since you've been in a rbk skate.
