Can anyone give me any info about the type of defensive zone coverage NHL teams use. Especially the Rangers if anyone has any ideas?

Most employ a zone coverage of one type or another. Defensemen will rarely chase someone with control of the puck into the corners or behind the net, though they will if control of the puck is contestable.

One of the first things I remember being taught by coaches: your opposition cant really make a good scoring bid from the sideboards or from behind your net. If the other teams puck possession in your zone is limited to those areas your goalies ability to make saves will be elevated.

Pretty basic box and one type stuff for the most part. The differences are just in the details of what coaches want.
