Is there anything for extending a wooden hockey stick?

Recommended Posts

I have now begun to chew through my second composite in less than 6 weeks. I don't think I can afford them. I found a nice newer montreal wooden stick, but since experimenting with extending my composites, I've found a comfy length that's a bit longer than my current wooden stick.

Does anyone make a butt-end to extend a wooden stick? I really just need an inch and a half more to make it more comfy.

Two ways you could do it...

- use an old wooden plug and nail that to the end of the wooden stick, I've done this before with an inch and half, and it was alright. You need to tape it properly to get it to work

- shave down the end of the wooden stick, then put part of a composite shaft over the top.

I really like that solution. It'd require a little work with a belt sander, but you could make two extensions and swap them out as you need to replace them on your sticks.

Have you considered trying (or going back to) a standard composite shaft/blade setup? Some of those have great durability, perform quite nicely, and are a lot easier to make entensions for. Ebay's a great place to look for inexpensive options. I like a lot of the older standard shafts really, really well (and have had great luck when I've used them).

You could just get another wooden stick that is longer.

ahh consumerism...so much easier to just buy new :p

But I like the composite shaft idea, you could go to any store or rink and ask if they have any broken OPS' lying around

If you're really looking for a way to simply lengthen the wooden stick without purchasing anything. By far the best way to do it is to shave down the end and add a portion of a composite shaft.

It's going to mess with your shot though, unless this is strictly for leisure.
