Graf 570 vs RBK 8k

Recommended Posts

I am so frustrated with my LHS. I was considering RBK 8K skates but didn't want to rule out others. Went to LHS where Graf claims I can be "fitted by their highly trained personel". What a pucking joke. 1adult and 3 teeny boppers in the store. Skate wall includes 1 Graf g35, 1 Graf 570, NO RBK, 3 different CCM, 1 Easton. The Graf 570 is a 9.5, which I anticipated to be too small, but fit nicely. So he insists I try on the size 10.5 Graf g35 (gee, wonder why?). I explain the 10.5 is going to be too big, which he disputes with, "every Graf skate is different, there's no consistency to their sizing. Huh? The Graf g35 was too tight in the forefoot as was the heel, despite my foot sliding front to rear. He insists their shop can make them fit. "we can punch the boot and just wear a little thicker sock to fill the space". Seriously?? So I ask what other skates they have in my "true" size. "ummmm, nothing". WTF? I ask when will you get some RBK in? " probably May, our rep isn't so reliable.". Ya think. Now, I am pretty happy with the 570 which I can get for $250 with baking and first sharpening. Should I try on RBK's or go with the 570?

That is true, but everything else is dubious/poor service at best.

If the 570 fits properly and feels good, you might as well jump on it. From the sounds of the shop it might be gone by the time they have anything else that will fit you.
