Your last line in that post - I understand that; I do the same thing.

FBV and ROH isn't an exact comparison - they both have different feels and aren't going to be exact.

But how is it different for you to call it a definite different hollow? The guy said he got the info from you.

Jimmy, wouldn't the larger radius of curvature offer more bite just as a larger tire with greater contact patch offers more traction than a smaller tire? I understand what you are thinking, that you have greater force per length of blade contact with a smaller radius, but also less blade contact.

I always describe FBV's as a "range", never definitive. I may say 100/50 is about or around comparative to a 1/2 hollow, but not same as.

What do you guys generally do for kids? I have two 50-60 pound mites, and generally request a 7/16" for them (although I can never be too sure what the rink does... not many sharpening options in Houston).

OK - I'm sorry that I accused you of doing that. Obviously things get lost in translation as the information moves from source to source.

I tell this to parents all the time...just ask your children.

Parents don't give them enough credit.

During the world jrs I got to sharpen alot of high end player skates, they almost all used 3/4,5/8 we did have 2 goalies that requested 1/4 it used a ton of wheel and took forever to cool the steel beacuse so many passes were needed to cover the width, the trainer said they were a french type hybrid goalie and that was why they used such a deep hollow ive had alot of goalie requests for 3/8 and even deeper why is this and should I sway them from this?

Goal is a bit different; the style that most goalies are using nowadays dictates them to use a deeper hollow as they drop down and shuffle for lateral movements as opposes to just shuffling standing up like a standup goalie used to. They need the longer edge to dig into the ice.

If my 7-year old could go an entire practice/game without peeing in his jock, I might give him more credit.
