Stupid Question About Waxed Laces

Recommended Posts

So I contemplated even posting this, but I figured worst case scenario I give you guys somebody to make fun of, haha. So I ordered up 5 pair of Nike/Bauer waxed laces since it seemed some guys here liked them quite a bit. I seem to be on a streak on getting my laces cut so I decided to stock up. Well I ordered them thinking they were just plain old white/black tracer waxed laces as that is all I've been exposed to and that's what was pictured on the website. So they show up today and they are white/blue tracer. Not really what I was expecting and I'm probably over thinking it, but I don't really think that goes too well with the gold/yellow on my One100s. Not that I'm trying to color coordinate everything, but I don't want to look like a douche either. So I guess my question is, is the whole blue tracer thing normal, like a back in the day thing, or some other explanation? I was raised and live in a town that doesn't eat, sleep, and breathe hockey so this is my first time seeing this. Ill prob send them back, but was curious. Done tons of searches and found nothing. Have mercy on me, lol. Also, are the tracers black on the white Graf laces? Thanks.

I don't think anyone other than you will notice. Most waxed laces I have seen are black tracers. I would use em. Besides blue and gold is not that bad a combo.

You really care enough about the colours of those tiny little tracers to send them back? As skyscrape said, nobody but you is gonna notice. But if you're really set on getting black tracers, the laces currently in my skates are "Elite" molded tip wax laces, they're white with black tracers and work totally fine.

Actually... I bought a pair of laces awhile back that had blue tracers, and somebody in the room said something to me about them. They were in my One95s though, so maybe the trim on the skates set off the color..? They look sweet, either way, but I doubt that anybody would notice if they were more than say.. 5 feet away.

Lol. Well I am currently using the Elites but thought I'd give those a shot. I'm not having to pay to send them back, the place I bought them from that showed a lace with black tracers and sent ones with blue tracers is paying for that. If I had only bought one set I would just keep them but I placed an order solely for those and bought 5 pair, so I spent $35 and have enough laces I'm sure I would be using them for quite a while. That's the only reason I'm considering sending them back. At any rate, I wasn't making this post to ask if I should send them back or not. I just thought maybe I could gain some knowledge as to the reason they are blue (if there is one) as all the other white laces I have seen have black tracers. I get that there are companies that make various colors of laces but it surprised me since they are Bauer. I just assumed the standard was white with black.
