RBK/JOFA 7K Shoulder pads

Recommended Posts

Good morning all, Thanks for all the great advice I've been getting from ModSquad.

I am thinking of getting some RBK/JOFA 7K shoulder pads for the the price of $40 out the door from a shop that went to GA and bought a bunch of stuff from the Pro team sell. Anyone use these? They are brand new never worn. It is either the JOFA 7K or some Easton S13, Easton ST6 shoulder pads what would you buy?

Thank ya.

The 7K model is a slimmed down version of the 8K (I have both) but are still pretty bulky. They offer really good protection though. Great pair of shoulder pads.

Can't beat Reebok/Jofa shoulder pads. Especially at $40 out the door. I have the 8K's and changed out the caps and bicep protectors to make them more like the 7K's. I love them. Great mobility, and great pads. There's a reason so many NHLers wear them.

^^...only difference between 8k and 7k were the additional biceps protectors...?!

Shoulder caps and adjustable bicep straps were different. Shoulder caps on 8K's were huge old school Jofa style and the 7K's had the smaller fitlites

I am a big fan of the reebok middle of the line stuff 6k, 7k. I think they really hit the value/performance mark for most people. So at 40 bucks it's a no brainer for me.

Going with the RBK/JOFA 7k Pro shoulder pads, they fit well and have just enough weight to them they will not ride up. Nice liner and pading as well. Any idea how long they take to break in?

Now I just need some nice elbow pads to go with them. Jofa/RBK 9177 or Jofa 5044? Any other ideas as well that are comparable ideas. Are the Reebok 6k any good?

MY 7K PRO's took about 3 skates to break in. There is little to no break in time with the RBK/Jofa SP's. These days they are buttery soft.

I think in the first RBK/Jofa year there were some variations out...I think, I've seen 7Ks with the longer 8K pads(front/back...perforated), just have no pic..

The pads I just purchased are like the ones on the bottom. Think I got a good deal on them for $40 out the door. Hope he does not discover ebay ha ha.

Any of the Jofa XX44 line are great and the Reebok 7K's are the same. The Jofa 9177 and older RBK 8K are a little long depending on your size. I'm 5'10" and I ended up cutting the extended protection off of my 8K pros cuz they were too long. Before them, I had the 5044's (I think) since they came out in like 2000 I think it was. I will never get a different brand of elbow pads.

8K is not as long as 8K Pro, very different pad.

The Pro seems a lot bigger on my arm.

Do you have a different version of the 8K?

Yes, as I stated in my post, it's the OLDER 8K which is the one that would be the same as the 9177. It's from the first generation of RBK equipment. I don't have any pics readily available but it's almost identical to the 8K pro. The pro has the older style more comfortable liner and the retail model has the playdry liner. That's probably the biggest difference between the two.

OK, haven't seen that, didn't know they had one so close to the Pro.

The first one pictured here is the retail 8K's I'm talking about that are just like the pros. They came out the first year RBK rebranded the Jofa line.

fsuhockeystar97, are you European? There were 8Ks listed as 'long' and 'short', not as 'pro'.

No, I live in the states. I have actually never seen the short 8K's you have pictured. I didn't even know they existed.

I heard of 8Ks being referred to as 'pro' before. I think it's just a cultural thing.

It's not a cultural thing, my 8K pros actually say 8K PRO on them, the same as my 8K pro shin pads. The pro line of stuff uses the older Jofa liner and the shins are more like the old Jofa XX90 shin pads, they have no calf wing, single strap behind the knee, stuff like that. For the life of me I can't find my fiances camera otherwise I'd take some pics to show you. Hopefully I can find them tonight and I can show you the different liners, etc.
