find your lie?

Recommended Posts

Probably not. The lie is the angle between the blade and shaft, but obviously, you don't see lies labeled as 145 degrees or w/e, so that rules out your protractor. Also, each company labels their lies differently, so it's best to take your stick and comapre it to sticks from that brand to figure out your lie.

Can you find the lie of your stick with household items?

The best way is to look up your curve online and see. Also, if you have another stick that you do know the lie, put both blades flat on the floor and compare. If your stick shaft is above then you have a higher lie and so forth. Most sticks now days fall in the 5-6 range. Eastons are mostly 5.5 and Warriors are often 4 and 4.5.

Hope this helps.

Well, theoretically, a lie 5 is supposed to be 135deg, and each full lie value changes by 2deg. In other words:

3.0 = 139deg

3.5 = 138

4.0 = 137

4.5 = 136

5.0 = 135

6.5 = 134

7.0 = 133

If the bottom of the blade was flat, it would be quite easy to measure but since almost all blades are rockered, and we don't know on which area of the blade each company measures the angle, the best method would be what AIREAYE said, keeping in mind that each degree is worth 1/2 lie.
