Reebok Titanium/Platinum skates

Recommended Posts

I was at a Source for Sports the other day. They had Reebok 11k and I think one other model in the "K" series...6. maybe? Can't remember. They also had 2 pairs labelled "Titanium" and "Platinum". I figure these are SMU for Source, but what would they be in the regular "K". The Titanium looked an awful lot like the 11k but at almost $300 cheaper I had to wonder what level of skate they actually are.

Usually with their SMUs, you can go by pricing. Compare the price to the rest of the line and it will usually be priced right around the regular model lines with the same quality of components and construction.

8k, 7k, 6k.

That's what I figured based on the prices I saw....but I've seen 11k and 6k side by side. The heel cap/tendon guard look very different. The Titanium and the 11k looked the same, and the markings (which I can't remember right now) on the liner were the same and the interior colour was all the same. Usually those are much different when you compare lower end skates to high end.

Meh, Either way...I think that answers my question.

Buying groups will usually negotiate some upgraded features or cosmetics to further differentiate from the equivalent in-line product as well as add perceived value. Vendors are sometimes more receptive to this than deeper discounts on in-line products.
