Easton S15 Motion pants

Recommended Posts

I did a search, and I couldn't find much information on these pants, and there are no reviews at all that I could find.

I'm considering buying a closeout pair of these online, and haven't really been able to find much information. Does anyone have any opinions/testimonials as far as the weight, mobility, protectiveness, durability, and anything else I should know about these. I don't remember any of the stores around me ever carrying them, so I never got to try them on, or really see them in person - I'm intrigued by the 'half girdle, half pants' nature of them because I've thought about moving into a girdle before because I like the fit, but have been wary of the lack of protection, and (vanity alert) I never seem to see anyone with a girdle where the shell appears to fit properly - they always look like baggy basketball shorts or something.

Also, one of the threads here said Easton's pant sizing has changed a bit in the last couple of years, so I'm wondering about my size too - I'm about 6' tall, and my pants size is a 34. I'm in Bauer Vapor XXXX pants in a medium right now, and they fit about right. I like a snug-ish fit in my pants.

I've only taken a quick look, so I might be remembering wrong.

But I thought the motions were lightweight for being a two piece, but not particularly protective. The padding seemed quite bulky to me, but I didn't try it on so I can't say anything about mobility.

I have a pair and I quite like them. I generally use a girdle and padded shell but these were quite mobile and offered as much protection as I needed for low level non contact hockey. The hip protection rides nice and high but I did have an issue with the abdominal pad flopping over the waist belt and jutting out. I have actually tried the girdle portion of these with a padded shell as well which worked pretty well .

I've been using a pair for a while. The shell is great - there are two belt positions so you can place the belt to make them longer or shorter, the legs have zippers, the thigh pads are removable and key areas are reinforced for wear. The girdle portion is beefy (especially in the hip area) when compared to my Mission Thorax girdle, but any ice girdle will be beefier than an inline girdle. Overall it's a nice mobile, light setup, but I think some girdle/shell combos would be even lighter and more mobile at the cost of some protection. I'm going to be trying the Warrior Projekt girdle in the hopes of just adding a little more mobility, but the S15 is definitely lighter and more mobile than most traditional pants.

As for sizing, at 6' and a 34" waist you'd probably be on the borderline between medium and large. Mine are large and indicated on the tags that they're meant for 34"-36" waists and I'm 6'2" with a 36" waist and set the belt so the pants are a little longer. The girdle portion is quite snug, but not to the point where it's uncomfortable. The outer shell is long enough when the belt is in the higher position.
