Durable stick for a big shot guy

Recommended Posts

I like the Sakic curve on Easton Sticks

I like the Sakic as well, but for slap shots I struggle controlling that curve. Snap shots and quick release wristers are pretty deadly though!

I have an ST that will take a beating and would be my best bet if you wannna get a good value. The Bauer One95 has also been a great stick.

If you wanna get a wood stick that will last you forever I suggest a Koho 2100, I've had it for around 4 years and still shooting strong. It's also very light weight but if you're a big guy I doubt this will be a problem.

Isn't that an stick with an abs blade? Won't be able to use that on the ice

I've gotten the most durability out of standard, 2 piece setups. If you can get your hands on one, I've had fantastic luck with TPS RedLiteXN10 and TPS Tricore Shafts. I've also gotten good results from Warrior AK27 shafts. I haven't tried any of the recent Bauer standard shafts, but a lot of guys seem to like them. I've gotten the best durability out of Bauer blades like the One95 and One90.

Easton ST, even if you want to break it, it wont

Not particularly true, I think my last ST was the stick I broke quickest (snapped in the middle of the shaft exactly where my hand would be when I snap on a shot). The current ST's taken quite a bit of abuse (a particularly nasty tourney, just slashes galore) but still intact. Although it just doesn't feel quite right anymore, feels like it's on its last legs. Only one of these '09 ST's left after the current one...

This is interesting, a lot of the preferences mentioned have conflicting views on other threads. I'm sure I saw someone moaning about ak27 shafts being weak.

I guess you always he inconsistencies in manufacturing

its like

As they say, your mileage may vary.

You can buy a 2011 AK shaft that is a 120 flex. If you are talking weak as in structurally sound, they are strong as hell. I beat on mine and I am 6'7 320. No feel? In fact it inspires feel. I use it instead of my total one for stick and pucks. When I play with the AK I am so much smoother and because of that I shoot, stick handle, and just flat out react faster with the Total One. But the AK will break in after you put it through the wringer, my total one...not so much. My wrists are not strong enough at the moment to shoot fast. Guys like Kovalev and Marleau are dangerous with the stick! It depends on your ability and strength.

Both fire cannons, the AK is stronger and more accurate. The total one is easier to get slap shots off with and I score from the point with it regularly. The total one is much quicker for stick-handling, but I would not know any better if I did not try out a lot of stuff. Top Level men's league team? A little too chippy for me to waste 220 a stick. i will use the AK Maybe a different flex, but still the AK. Drop In or tournaments that are for fun? TotalOne

Each player has different mechanics and different anatomy.

But as stated earlier and both pieces of advice ring true!

Anything said is going to be pure conjecture without seeing your shot/form/set-up, etc.

Since you said you're going the two piece route, pop in a couple different blades over the weeks and try them all out equally. Report back to us when you know.

i would suggest a one95 or ST if you dont mind the weight in the eastons. my totalone has really held up well, but im not much of a "big shot guy." i think every stick varies in how long it'll last due to how everyone shoots different these days!
