ridiska99 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Thanks again. Ordered 520s today. Hopefully they'll do the trick and size will be ok . Will post my impression and reviews on here soon. But retail tackla 5000x pro , the back and tailbone protection is very dissapointing to say the least .

wrangler 157 Report post Posted June 11, 2011 Reebok 1053 seems to run a little larger than CCM 520 for me. The 1053 XL, and the 520 XXL fit me about right. The 520 may be a hair bigger in the waist, but not much. The 520 I've got is the MHP520CHL.SP, whatever that means.

nnguyen 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2011 I just ordered a pair of the 520's from the Islanders pro shop. You may want to give them a try. I'll post my assessment once I get them.
Edinaguy16 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2011 Hey guys sorry to bother you, but hopefully you can help me out. Anyway I live in minnesota and played for My bantam A team last year...anyway I need some new hockey pants, and cant really find any that i like. Im not a big fan of anything you can buy from your local pro shop..right now im using the 2 piece bauer x:60 pants. Ive been doing my research and it looks like the pro stock reebok 520's, and the reebok 7000's are the way to go. Im a tall skinny kid.. like 6'1'' around 160 pounds size 32 waist in jeans. To my knowledge the 7000's are more of a 2 piece pant, right? The only thing is i have no idea where i can find either of those. You guys seem to know a lot so i would appreciate your opinions. If you guys have any in black, size M or L let me know.. even if theyre not too badly used ill take them.. Ive been doing my best to find them online, but havnt come across a pair in black. Please let me know if you can help me out! Thanks
1117 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2011 Yes, the 7000:s are a two-piece pant. I have three pairs, all bought on ebay, so I think that's your best bet to find a pair. For reference, I'm 6'2'', 195 lbs and the size large 7000:s fit me perfectly.

As long as they are all black, and aren't too badly used i would take them. If not could you give me a link to a pair on ebay? Thanks !

wrangler 157 Report post Posted June 18, 2011 Looks like the 1053. If you want to know details, you need to ask the seller. Keep checking ebay. Pants show up for sale often.FYI, take a look at the "Code of Conduct" here; there's a link near the top of every page. Rules prohibit us from making sales outside the Gear Exchange section. And the seller doesnt know, because he says there is no model written on them. And sorry im new on here.. i wasnt trying to get anyone in trouble. I just wanted to know if anyone had a pair to sell. And my problem is that im between just buying the 11k pants from a store or buy these or another pro stock pair on ebay. Would regular 11k's be alright, or should i for sure get the pro stocks? Thanks

There should be some model code on the pants' tags, but if they've been removed, that's no help, and all you can do is get more pictures inside and out. Find out if the pants are one piece or two, if they have zippers, etc. There's nothing wrong with the 11K, there's very good protection there. But no one can tell you what you personally would prefer as far as fit, or exactly where the padding will sit on you. You'll have to learn that from seeing and trying on pants. Keep your eyes open, and ask other players about their pants. You'll be well protected with either pants model.
Edinaguy16 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2011 They are a 2 piece pant. The thing that i wonder is will it be easier to break in the pro stock pants? I never really liked having to break in new hockey pants, do you think pro stock vs. retail pants will have a difference? Also do you think the overall movement will be better in the pro stocks? nnguyen 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2011 I just tested out my 520's for the first time last night and yes, they look like they'll require some break in time. Coming from a girdle, it does feel quite different. But they are built like tanks, and that's what I was looking for. Plenty of room in the legs though, hips feel good and snug. They'll just need a few games for them to mold to your body.
wrangler 157 Report post Posted June 20, 2011 Leg movement seemed fine from the beginning, in the 520 and 1053 I got.
Edinaguy16 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2011 I used the new 11k's that i just got, and they seem a little bulky? Like they didnt feel very stream line. I dont know if you guys know what i mean but they just kinda didnt flow with the rest of my gear. Do you think the pro stocks would be any different? Thanks

ThanksThe pants you asked about, from the start, were more protective pants. Naturally, they are bulkier. Now you want to go in a completely different direction? And you mentioned buying the 11K at a store -- didn't you try them on?
Edinaguy16 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2011 Well i actually got them online but anyway.. More protection doesnt necessarily mean more bulk. Depending on where the extra protection is on the pant, and how the padding is placed throughout the pant i would think would dictate more of the bulkiness. I would think the pro stocks would be built more streamline.. to me the retail pants bulge out sideways, like the leg part of them. And i guess im getting into more of the look of the pants, which i know isnt very important because its not about looks its about how you play. Do you think the pro stocks would be less like that? Let me know if you understand what im getting at. thanks
wrangler 157 Report post Posted June 20, 2011 I've never concerned myself with the look of pants, other than color. My 520 & 1053 have ample room inside the legs, for good movement, and good solid wraparound thigh pads. I don't think they're less bulky than the 11K.

But this can also be attributed to the fact that the thigh pads are molded to provide ample room for you to move your legs. The fit of the 520's that I have is more snug at the top, and looser at the bottom. From a streamline perspective, not sure what you mean, but these pants offer seamless protection. By that, I mean that there's not much gap between the hip and thigh pads. Hope this helps.
wrangler 157 Report post Posted March 29, 2013 Strangely, the sizing is different in the different CCM and Reebok pants. The MHP520CHL.SP XL is 38-40, the MHP520ECHL.SP XL is 36-38, and fits smaller, and the Reebok 1053 XL is 36-38, and fits larger than the others. So folks should check what they're getting, compared to what they have, to avoid size surprise.
