DR Centurion Shins Replacement

Recommended Posts

I just recently got back in to hockey. I'm still using my old shins which are a pair of the old black DR Cenutrions with the black plastic around the back. I LOVED those things. They were bullet proof! Was sad to see DR seems to be out of the game. Unfortunately, the rivets at the knee joint rusted out and I am holding them together with skate laces. There is a guy in the games I play in that has a super heavy shot and I don't want to give him the satisfaction of backing down from it. What shin pad do you old timers think comes closest to the old Centurion? Back of the calf protection is a requirement (no I'm not turning my back to the shots!).

Thanks.

I don't know what the old centurion is like, but you can still get DR shins from hockeytron

The new D&R stuff is not even close to the Centurion. I would suggest Jofa, I think the 8090's (maybe) had a large solid calf wrap.

I was thinking this too, looking from pics of the Centurion, the Reebok (Fitlite line and before, not the new Kinetic fit) or Jofa stuff seems to be of similar shape and design

Thanks, actually I looked online and I'm thinking that the Easton S19 looks like may be a good candidate as well. Has the two sided full plastic calf wrap like the Centurions do.
