Fit differences between helium 750 and 950?

Recommended Posts

I am in the market to get new skates. I tried on helium 750's and cant say i was impressed. It felt like a snowboarding boot. I am hoping there's a big fit difference between 750 and 950?

Anyone try both?

Jason

Sweet, thanks for the input. Another question: do you think there will be any durability issues with the 950's? If they're leather, would the break down faster, or be more prone to damage than some of the other mission carbon fiber boots?

The heel of one of my 03 d1's decided it didn't want to stay attached to the boot anymore... 2 months past the 1 year warranty and Mission CS says they can't help me. Figured they'd last me a while since i'm only on them 1-2 times a week but guess not. I'm in a time crunch and this is the wonderful time of year when they've already blown out all of the 04's and 05's are going for near full price so I am also interested in the major differences between the 950 and 750.

Is weight savings and bearings the only major difference between the two?

i have had problems with mine. the chassi was off alighn and when i got them back i skated in them for 2 weeks and a crease formed on the boot. where the ankle support is. all the players on my team have that happaning to their skates and now the feel of the boot in uncomfortable. i dont even wear them anymore. the 750's i have now dont have any problems like that. they are comfortable but not as the 950

Hmm is anybody else having problems with their 950's? A guy at the rink I play at has them and has to keep getting the boot adjusted because they are giving him blisters in the heel (and he skates almost every day).

we had them fitted right. 1 finger between the heel and back of boot. they fit like a glove but since the problem has occured they r useless. very uncomfortable. i talked to a mission rep last night and he said they have been having problems with that happening. it has to do with the boot setup. once i find more about the problem ill post again.

Give the Tour Bue Max's or the Beemers a hard look....Tour has added a wrap around component on the back of the outsole to give them more bonding area and prevent the heel separation people have seen on so many other inlines. They also changed to extra large eyelets to reduce the pulling pressure on the laces, and help prevent failures (eyelets pulling through the boots) at these points. They added wear pieces to the inside and outside edges at the balls of the foot to prevent wearing through the boots at these points. They went back to the old last from the 962 series skates which seemed to suit more people than the G series...

While I cannot speak for everybody as everyone has a unique feel they are looking for in a skate, but those whom I know that have used them find they are super comfortable right out of the box. They may not be quite as light as the new Missions, but they are equipped with the Hum'er chassis which adds very tangible other benefits in terms of speed, aceleration and stopping. A few of the early skates had some complaints of "lace bite" but Tour added some more padding to the toung to take care of this....why not get comfort, performance and durability? I think Tour has taken a step in the right direction putting more of a premium on comfort and durability than weight in their new series. Less weight does NOT necesarily mean more performance..the rest of the skate has to work too.

Yes I've definitely been looking at the Tours. I found the blue max's at a play it again on sale for 269 and came so close to getting them, but they were half a size too small. I just couldn't get around it.

On the other hand, the heliums are much easier to find in stores, and are lighter (which while not being the only important thing, is still a very important thing), and have better bearings & wheels.

But from what I've heard about Tour skates and from just trying them on for 5 minutes, I'm extremely tempted to try them. It's just that I know I like Missions since I've been using them forever. I dont know if I will like the Tours. I don't want to make a 400 dollar mistake.

But hey, if there are pro's out there using them I'm sure they're good enough for me. I guess it all comes down to what kind of deal I can find.
