Cherry is full of crap on so many levels. Even with a pair of Sherwood 5030s, that hit would have knocked Horton out. The league needs to eliminate the jumping and high hitting, and they've already addressed the shoulder pad issue. Until recently, you were always coached to drop your shoulder to deliver a check. Now, players are taught to "explode" up and into the guy they hit for maximum damage. They need to get rid of the head hunting of the last five years, this stuff was never part of the game before. Scott Stevens being the obvious exception there.

Especially for guys that aren't getting paid because of their scoring ability.

That's definitely something they need to look at and fix. A star takes a guy out and gets nothing or a game in the playoffs, but a no name gets the entire playoffs taken away. It was the same in the regular season as well, stars don't get as much supplementary discipline as bit players.

My point was there are guys out there whose sole job is essentially to try and hurt people. If they touch the puck during a game it's an aberration.
