APX vs. T1 pricing

Recommended Posts

Curious what's driving the price difference between APX and TotalOnes (at least in Canada T1s are $100-$50 more expensive than APX)

I haven't skated in APX, but on the surface APX seems to be just a much if not more of a skate comparing to T1s: same outsole, sale holder/runner, same Alive material, much stiffer laterally then T1s, dual liner to address issues with T1 liner wearing our quickly on the ankle guards etc and yet it's cheaper - why?

Or is it simply an acknowledgement by Bauer that T1s were priced too high?

BTW on a somewhat related note after over a year in 2 different pairs of T1s I'm personally pretty much convinced - it's a lemon comparing to One95 :(

Not sure why they are less around you but everywhere i have been they have both been $789-$799, they are different boots APX is made for quicker strides and T1 is made for power (long) strides. They have different liners and style setup for those purposes, but haven't heard the problem of the t1 liners wearing out quickly.

They're supposed to be the same price point. They both go for $850 CDN here iirc.

Don't believe that stride nonsense, it's just marketing. It's the fit you should be concerned about not 'stride'.

As for the liners, they have been an issue. Perhaps not for those skating at a lower-level but we've seen many pairs with the liner ripped up.

Interesting... around me T1 is at least $50 more expensive on average

re liners - yeah, the other guy must have been drinking the marketing coolaid :)

I spoke from personal experience & a few other skaters I skate with regularly who had the same issue - the liner does wear out very quickly in certain areas...

The T1 and APX should be the same price at the stores since but some stores might go higher on the Vapor and lower on the Supreme to kind of balance it out as traditionally speaking the Vapor boot out sells and is also the most common skate among NHL players so they might be cashing in on that idea.

T1 liner ripping has been an issue... for kids who were in x60s (or not a supreme fit). I haven't seen a T1 yet become shredded from a supreme foot. Only for those where it doesn't fit right to begin with.

poor fit certainly contributes to the issue, but even proper 'supreme foot' type players (that spent years in One95) have had issues with T1. Just saw one today - definitely not a vapor type foot due to wide forefoot & high volume, and big holes near the top eyelets. precisely where APX & X60 have clarino.
