RR Hornet Splits vs. Labeda Addictions?

Recommended Posts

Having skated on both, the Addictions win with regards to durability (as long as you don't chunk them). I haven't had any issues with chunking.

What is the performance difference? I hear that the Addictions are great, but more people I know have the Splits. I seem to chunk out normal hornets very fast, and i don't want to spend over $100 on wheels that wil chunk out in a month. Is the performance of the Splits so much better that I should get them over Addictions? Which do you think is the better wheel overall? Im skating Milleniums right now.

i roll with both... the two front wheels are addictions, and the two rear wheels are the black and white splits. i've tried different variations on it, and found that this suits me the best. the splits are a little too soft to have in the front, whereas the addictions are spot on. i haven't had a problem with either of them chunking (note: the red and yellow addictions are WAY more durable then the orange one's, i'm aware they're the same, but i had the orange one's for a week and 3 chunked out in that span.) i'm going to try the red and white splits next, as they are harder.

I switched to the Rink Rat splits.(red-white)these hornet wheels are the best out there in my opinion. the addictions were splitting and then chunking and for the money I expected a more durable wheel. The hornet red white splits have been great,no splitting ,just wear and still holding grip. The hornets so far have been what I expect from a top of the line wheel.

I believe that someone on this site did a "Full Review" on the Splits vs. Addictions in the Long Term Review section, however, my searching this morning, did not turn up anything? So it might have been at another site? Anyways, I recall reading that this individual, had both sets of wheels, and he actually went to the extent of running Splits on one skate and Addictions on the other skate. After some number of games, he switched them over just in-case he was favouring one side over the other. From what I can remember, he used them over a full season of play.

He said that there was almost no difference that he could identify between the two. So I would have to think that they hold very similar types of grip and durability properties.

Although I did not find the comparison review, I found a review of Addiction wheels... look in: Equipment Reviews -> Skates -> Roller Hockey Skates/Wheels.

Wow I give whoever did that review a lot of credit. To use two different sets for an entire season - hat tip for that. Im so particular about skates and wheels that even subtle differences would throw me off. Id last a game, if that.
