Equipment bag for roller gear.

Recommended Posts

I am a big guy so I use 14-15 shin, Med-Lar elbows, helmet with a cage, etc. I also like to bring two pairs of gloves.

I currently have a '09'ish model of the Warrior Kronik backpack bag. I can't get two sets of gloves in there with everything else unless I really crush it in there.

Does anyone use a backpack style bag that can accomodate all of their gear plus an extra pair of gloves?

Have you tried playing tetris with your gear?

I have a Mission Boss backpack and this goes in there

- skates

- bauer XXXX girdle

- 15inch shins

- helmet with cage

- M elbows

- 15inch gloves

- thorax padded shirt

- 2x knee braces

- inline pants, jersey and liners for braces.

- small kit box with extras, spare wheels

- small kit with tape, medical tape scissors

Everything goes in, and still has enough space for another pair of gloves.

Yes, I have tried. I currently have to put my shins inside each other and then my elbows in the "inside" area of the shins. My shins go almost the entire hight of the bag. My helmet, gloves and laundry bag (with pants, jock, jersey, etc) go on the other half of the bag. I have to still compress something to get that in.

My skates, tape, deoderizer spray, tools, etc go in the outside pocket.

I have tried playing with different configurations and cannot get more space. The Warrior bags are known to be small!

I currently use the Tour Elite backpack. And it fits all of my ice hockey gear quite nicely. Although I don't carry 2 sets of gloves, my shoulder pads are huge (Bauer Vapor XXXX - XL). The Tour bag has and endless number of pockets to keep things organized, although most of the pockets are for smaller items. I have had the bag for 2 months now and I am still finding new pockets that I didn't know exist, pockets inside of pockets! Also, my son uses the Valken V-Elite backpack bag and it is also quite spacious (not as many pockets), but far better ventilation!

I saw some promo video's from NARCh 2011, and it looks like Bauer has a new APXR Backpack that is aimed at both Roller and Ice hockey players, they say it is very big. And it really looks great!

I use the Reebok 4k, or 5k backpack bag for roller and ice, and have no issues fitting all my gear in it. Love the extra pockets to keep skates, tape and misc in. Even w/ shoulders, I could prolly put in another set of gloves. And its all senior gear.

Raganblink, you have it nailed exactly right! The only way to make all of your ice gear fit into these Roller backpacks, is to efficiently use every bit of space available. The key to that is to pack equipment inside of each other. I always put my shin pads inside of each other, and then my elbow pads inside of the shin pads. Helmet always carry's a face-wipe rag, under-armour under-shirt and other spare bits and jam one of my gloves in there as well. So really you can make an amazing amount of space come available with a little bit of thoughtful packing!

If you're really not into efficient packing and just want to hurl your gear into a bigger bag, then I would be looking at that new Bauer APXR Backpack, it is supposed to be designed for Roller and Ice hockey players.
