CCM V08 Helmet and FM480 Cage

Recommended Posts

I have a CCM v08 helmet (medium) paired with a FM480(medium) cage.

When I have the cage strapped in, I feel like the helmet is pushing into my temples and it hurts. When the cage is up, the helmet fits perfectly. I tried wearing a large helmet but they were too big. Has anybody ever experienced this or knows how to fix this? Any advice would be appreciated!

I had the same problem as the OP with the CCM V08. Except, it was fine with the cage that came on it. When I switched to a Bauer HLC half shield, it pressed into my temples so bad I'd have a splitting headache after 15 minutes. I tried to add spacers under the clips and that didnt help at all. I finally gave up and bought an Oakley and its fine. There is something wierd, IMO, about the way that helmet fits with certain shields.

All that being said, the first thing to try is what was mentioned above by jsykes.

okay sounds good guys, I'll try stretching it out and see how it fits from there... I know that if I stretch it out too much, it won't fit into the j-clips (which will cause further pinching of the temples). We'll see how it goes!

Hey guys, this is a followup to the issue of my V08 paired with a FM480 mask causing extreme pinching to my temples.

I followed jsykes solution of just stretching the cage out and that helped out a bit. Although I noticed that the vertical wires push against the j-clips, which ultimately pushed my helmet to my temples. I simply reversed the jclips so that the vertical wire doesn't pinch against it, and now it no longer pinches! I played 2 drop in games with this setup and had no headaches after the game, great success!

Thanks for all your help guys.
