Faulty Tuuks?

Recommended Posts

On Saturday I purchased a new pair of x7.0s. I didn't notice any problems during the heating and fitting process, but the next morning when I was in the locker room for sticks and pucks, I noticed the skate felt lighter on my foot, looked down and saw my steel lying on the ground. Upon closer inspection, the circular thing near the back of the blade had shattered with pieces all over the floor. Bringing them back to the lhs, one of the guys just took the skate and brought it back a couple minutes later with what I thought was new metal, but when i got home and inspected them...the blade is still moving in the holder!

Could ther employee have used the same blade? or Is it new steel but the holder is messed up?

I really don't know much about holders and blades, so thanks for your responses in advance

It really pays to buy your own Bauer wrench for removing and installing your own blades to ensure perfection every time. It's "possible" that they used the same blade but I wouldn't think very likely. It's also possible there is a little piece of plastic from the holder in the channel that the blade sits in and is keeping it from tightening down properly. Either way take it back to them and ask them for perfection.

From what you describe it sounds like the steel insert that's fused to the aluminum where the bolt head goes, that it separated from the aluminum. This seems to be the common failure point on these runners. It doesn't sound like just the hardware was loose.
