Bauer 9900 Helmet Vs. Cascade M11 Helmet

Recommended Posts

I have a M11 right now, but I want to get a black helmet for my new team. In terms of protection, breatheability, and fit, which one should I choose?

They're both top of the line helmets. Pick the one that fits you best. You can't really count on our opinions on fit, no two heads are a like...

Try them both on in various sizes, adjust the size that fits your head in each model so it's snug and then pick the one that's the most comfortable for you. I tried on all the helmets available before picking the M11 and chose that because it was the most comfortable one for me, but if the 9900 happened to fit better I would've went with that (or another model).

Determining which one is truly more protective would require independant lab testing. I'm happy with the protection the M11 has provided for me in the 1.5 years I've been in that helmet. Given that the 9900 is Bauer's top of the line model I'd expect it to offer a good level of protection as well, but I have no personal experience using that helmet.

Breathability could be compared, but I can't comment on the direct comparsion since I haven't used both helmets. Hopefully others can.

As everyone says, fit is the most important factor. I bought an M11 and it fit pretty good but I thought it was a little heavy and warm. I just sold it and purchased a Reebok 11K. Used it twice and its very nice. Great adjustability and not to hot(used it twice). The Bauer lids just did not fit me well. Good luck,

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say that of all the equipment you buy, your helmet should be above all chosen for fit. In looking for a new helmet, try both on in different sizes as members have stated before me, and if neither really feel all that great, broaden your search. Top of the line doesn't necessarily mean best fitting or most comfortable.

I've been wearing the 9900 for over a year now. It fit me great, which was the number 1 reason for getting it. Should be for you too. Protection so far has been satisfactory. A puck to the mask, along with a few trips, didn't feel a thing. Pretty light, very breathable. Definitely recommend it as long as it fits well.
